Nokia’s parent company HMD Global, announced that every phone launched by it will be receiving Android P. All the phones released by HMD Global, from the Nokia 3 to the more recent Nokia 8 Sirocco will be receiving the update. The Android P update will also be pushed to the recently launched Nokia 5.1, Nokia 2.1 and the Nokia 3.1. This comes as great news to early adopters of the Nokia brand as they will be receiving updates for their devices. There are many companies that have a wide line of smartphones on offer but tend to neglect their lineup of phones and customers should be taking note from Nokia in this matter.
Neil Broadley, Marketing Manager at HMD Global stated that “the latest major version of Android will come to the entire Nokia portfolio as part of its commitment to the “pure, secure, and up-to-date” mantra.” All of the current gen Android One Devices that are within the 2 year update coverage will obviously going to receive the update. Even the phones that are based on the Android Go version, namely the Nokia 2.1 and the Nokia 1 will also be receiving the update.
This announcement is part of a slew of exciting updates recently by HMD Global, most recent being their USD 100 Million Funding series by various VCs. There also has been word about Nokia working on a new Snapdragon 710 SOC based device codenamed “Phoenix” to be launched by Winter of 2018.
