Nokia India plans the launch of 5G phones in India by 2021 end

In an interview with ET, Sanmeet Kochhar the global vice president of HMD Global, speaks about various things about the Nokia brand and its various plans about launching 5G smartphones in India.

He stated “We want to expand this with multiple EMS partners, mainly Indian companies. We are taking steps in this direction. We are evaluating exports from India,”, talking about the upcoming hardware manufacturing commitments in India.

He further added “We had a sustainable and profitable year in India in 2020. we will launch smartphones in the mid-segment for smartphones and will bring 5G phones,”

After talking about the recent financing round from Google and other companies, he said how the funds are to be used to bring 5G to the masses. For the timeline, he only said “This is what we intend to do in 2021,”. So expect major 5G news by end of the year.

Nokia has also made various plans to increase manufacturing in India and NokiaTips will be having a detailed look into all the different areas that both Nokia and HMD Global have planned to venture into.
