Nokia Becomes Largest Vendor of Windows Phone

24 Feb , 2012

On Feb 11, 2011, Nokia announced partnership with Microsoft and embraced Windows Phone as their primary Smartphone Operating System. After that, Nokia announced Nokia Lumia 800, 900 and 710. Lumia 800 sale was huge.

Strategy Analysis released their report of Microsoft’s Windows Phone’s sale for Q4, 2011. Nokia ousted HTC and other companies and became largest vendor of WP. This is surely a great achievement for this short period.

Alex Spektor, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics, said, “Global smartphone shipments using the Microsoft operating system grew 36 percent sequentially to reach 2.7 million units in Q4 2011. Microsoft smartphone shipments remain tiny, but they are showing tentative signs of growth. Nokia overtook HTC and others to become the world’s largest Microsoft smartphone vendor with 33 percent market share. Nokia’s global Microsoft smartphone shipments hit 0.9 million units, as distribution of its Lumia family expanded across numerous countries and operators.”

So what are your thoughts on the future of Nokia and Windows Phones?

It is also available at LetsBuy . Not sure about LetsBuy but Flipkart supports COD and delivery within 5-7 days. I haven’t checked local dealers’ prices yet but its good to get it from online store at this price.

About Nokia Lumia 710:
The Nokia has introduced Nokia Lumia 710, Windows Phone that is designed to be affordable. The touchscreen handset runs on Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) OS, which supports all kinds of software. Lumia comes with a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion Processor with a clock rate speed of 1400 MHz. This is very responsive and thus enhances the performance of the phone. The Nokia handset also supports a 512 MB RAM and has Adreno 205 GPU.
